Agra
is best known as the city of one of the wonders of the
world, the Taj Mahal, the marble mausoleum of the beloved
queen of a powerful emperor. The former seat of the Mughal
emperors, Agra offers many relics of its regal past -
the beautiful Agra Fort, the exquisitely carved tomb of
Itmad-ud-Daulah, the deserted royal city of Fatehpur Sikri
and Akbar the Greats tomb at Sikandra have attracted
both international and domestic travellers for a long
time now. Near enough Agra for day trips to suffice are
the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, and Mathura and Vrindavan,
the cities where Lord Krishna was born and where he spent
his formative years.
Agra
also offers varied shopping opportunities. The city
offers unique marble inlay work done in the style of
the old monuments, leather shoes and bags, lacquer bangles,
beadwork - the list is endless.
Agra, just 200 kms from Delhi on a well laid highway,
is the ideal venue for residential conferences considering
that some of the world's most reputed luxury hotel chains
have properties here, each with luxurious settings and
the ultimate in comfort and convenience. In this city
with a rich tradition of hospitality, even the strings
of budget hotels provide all the necessary comforts.
Additional attractions are the sprawling golf courses,
swimming pools and pool-side bar-be-cue parties, chandelier-lit
banquet halls, besides the latest in telecommunication
and audio-visual systems.
