Udaipur,
the city of lakes, flourishes in the harsh terrain of
the hills and ravines of Aravallis. One of the most
romantic places in India, the city was founded on the
shore of the shimmering clear blue Pichola lake in 1567
by Maharana Udai Singh on the advice of a sage, and
was the last of the numerous Mewar capitals. It was
in Udaipur that the legendary Maharana Pratap was born.
The city is still full of enchanting tales of its remarkable
past, with episodes of heroism and splendour.
Udaipur
acquires its scenic beauty from the Aravallis and the
three lakes - Pichola, Fateh Sagar and Udai Sagar- which
make it an oasis in the desert. The domed cupolas of
Rajasthan's largest and oldest palace complex overlook
Lake Pichola with its twin islands, one of which houses
a palace hotel and the other a pleasure palace, which
has since been converted into a luxury hotel. This most
romantic of cities is an ideal conference venue with
more than adequate modern support systems and facilities.
